Garry Oak Forest

Over the summer we will be preparing an area in the south end of the park for planting Garry Oak trees.  Trees will be planted in October.   These trees will be visible from the new Blue Hills Parkway along a ridge looking down into the oak forest.  Garry Oaks are native and important to the bio diversity of our area .  Most Garry Oak trees have been harvested since settlers arrived but a few remain in Phinny Bay and Belfair.
