Art brings hope. And employment builds confidence and community investment. For more than thirty years, Blue Legacy has been dedicated to educating and empowering creative individuals who have been silenced or marginalized due to their age, disability, economic status or other factor. Staffed entirely by volunteer mentors who are bestsellers in their creative fields, we're dedicated to educating, empowering and elevating individuals who dream of being authors, actors or filmmakers. Let's make those dreams realities and let your voice be heard.

Blue Legacy is honored to hold a Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid GuideStar and we thank the corporations and organizations that have supported our work in the past, including: The Washington Arts Commission (ArtsWA), The National Endowment for the Arts, Next for Autism, and Walmart SparkGood.

Giving Activity

Mission

With four divisions (Blue Forge Films, Blue Forge Press, Blue Forge Sound, and Blue Forge Gaming), we have supported artisans from all walks of life as young as seven years old and as mature as 98. Founded in 1989, Blue Legacy is helmed by bestselling author and award-winning playwright and filmmaker, Jennifer DiMarco, and serves, on average, 2500 artisans every year. Needs

In 2024, we have two main projects:

Create4U. This amazing youth group works with at-risk young adults and young people on the autism spectrum. We pair each member with a mentor and provide job training, life-skills education, essentials like groceries and clothing, and other everyday support as they start new jobs in the creative industry. This will be our eighth year of Create4U. We can support one young adult through Create4U for an entire year for just $500.

Space4Art. So many Americans delay their dreams of writing a novel, a memoir, or even a film until after they retire... and then they have the desire to create but not the skills or the space. Without the routine of a traditional job, they feel adrift. With just $5000, we can open low-cost and free studio and office space for artisans right on our beautiful Port Orchard campus. Mentors will be on-call for artisans and equipment like computers and cameras will be available.

These two projects -- combined with our acting troupe, regular workshops, and creative events -- will directly impact Kitsap County residents as they find their creative voices and new careers.
