Help Fight Hunger in Kitsap County!

Every day, the Central Kitsap Food Bank (CKFB) hears stories of neighbors facing food insecurity. In 2025, over 34,000 people in Kitsap County struggled to put food on the table—but thanks to community support, our doors were open to help.

Hunger can affect anyone—families, seniors, veterans—often due to unexpected hardships like job loss, underemployment, medical emergencies, or rising living costs. Since 1989, CKFB has been a pillar of support, ensuring that every person who walks through our doors receives nutritious food and essential supplies with dignity and care.

The Growing Need for Support

The demand for food assistance is increasing:

  • 51% more households are seeking help due to SNAP program reductions (previously known as Food Stamps) and national inflation. especially after the federal government shutdown in October.
  • Almost 45,000 people received food assistance through CK Food Bank in 2025.
  • 1.17 million pounds of food and supplies were distributed to over 15,000 families last year.

Through partnerships with local farmers, community organizations, and volunteers, CKFB helps reduce food waste and maximize resources to serve those in need. CK Food Bank coordinates with local farmers to receive fresh fruits and vegetables, so families enjoy the choice of healthy foods on their tables every day. Any fresh foods not received by clients; they go back to the farmers to feed their stock ensuring no waste is added to the environment.

How We Serve Our Community

CKFB is more than a food bank—we’re a vital resource for Kitsap County:

  • Nutritious Food Access – Every client leaves with a full grocery cart of meal essentials, helping to stretch their limited budgets.
  • Senior Support – Coordinating the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, delivering 30–35 lbs. of food monthly to over 750 low-income seniors in Kitsap and Jefferson counties.
  • Homebound Delivery – Ensuring those unable to visit us still receive healthy food.
  • Community Partnerships – Distributing fresh produce, dairy, and baked goods to other local food banks and feeding programs (serving an additional 10,000 clients in 2025).

We Can’t Do This Without You

CKFB relies on the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners to meet the growing need. In 2025, 199 volunteers contributed 12,586 hours, allowing us to stretch further every dollar. We have volunteers from the local community, the Retired Seniors Volunteers Program (RSVP), Kiwanis, Lions Clubs, Schools, Churches and the US Navy.

However, funding challenges and rising demand mean we need your help now more than ever.

Mission

“Central Kitsap Food Bank provides food and community resource information at no cost in a caring and respectful manner to people in need while preserving the dignity of those we serve."

Needs

Today, the challenge Central Kitsap Food Bank faces is that as the population continues to increase in Kitsap County, so does the need in our community. Every month, thousands of individuals—including infants, children, adults, and seniors—turn to the Central Kitsap Food Bank for vital food assistance. and community resource information In the past month alone, we served over 3,500 individuals and distributed nearly 116,000 pounds of food and supplies to those in need. Yet, the demand continues to grow, especially with the cuts in federal government support to our active-duty military families, veterans and SNAP recipients.

With inflation, underemployment, SNAP reductions, and economic challenges, more families are struggling to put meals on the table. Compared to pre-pandemic levels, we are serving significantly more households (almost double the amount), and the need is only increasing. While generous donations and volunteers keep us going, funding gaps threaten our ability to provide for our neighbors in crisis.

Your support ensures that no one in our community goes hungry. Every dollar donated helps us feed families, support seniors through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, and distribute food and supplies where it’s needed most. A $35 donation will provide a family of 4 with two meals a day and $1,000 will fill their table for a whole month. Join us in making a difference—donate today and help nourish our local neighbors in need.
