For over 30-years, For the Children has recognized the damage done by family induced childhood trauma and how it affects our communities. What is broken in relationship, must be healed through relationships. Our network of vetted and trained volunteers are unrelenting in their dedication to intervening in the lives of those children through our work in advocacy, monthly mentoring - Royal Family Kids CLUB, and week-long overnight intervention camps every summer - Royal Family Kids CAMP.
At camp, boys and girls from the foster system in Kitsap County, ages 6-12, have opportunities to make positive memories, learn strategies that build resiliency, and build healthy relationships. Campers enjoy a wide-range of fun and empowering traditional summer camp experiences, as well as the opportunity to work through emotional challenges with safe adults. All kids are treated with dignity and respect, changing the trajectory of their lives - and ultimately their future.
Because of Covid, the last camp we were able to hold was in 2019, so we are excited to have dates chosen and a location secured for a camp in 2022. These kids who need extra support have suffered exponentially during the pandemic, and we are eager to do our part to care for them once again.
