Kitsap Shop with a Cop relies on local school districts to select children they know are most at risk of possibly not having any Christmas. The first Saturday of December, in partnership with Poulsbo Walmart, and nearly a dozen community law enforcement agencies, we take up to 150 children shopping for Christmas. The goal is for the child to buy presents for themselves, but it's not uncommon for a child to arrive with a grocery list - because that's what the family really needs. It is the most special moment when a child chooses to spend all their money on someone else. With the immense success of Kitsap Shop with a Cop, we have been able to add a second day at the Port Orchard Walmart for a smaller group of children.
100% of all contributions go directly to support the children. Kitsap Shop with a Cop is 100% run by volunteers.
Kitsap Shop with a Cop is a 501C3 non – profit organization formed by a group of volunteers from local law enforcement agencies. Kitsap Shop with a Cop raises money throughout the year in order to provide needy area youth with a good Holiday season. Each year nearly 150 kids from area schools and tribal reservations get around $200 to shop at Walmart. A different school district is selected each year and the kids are selected by the school district. The kids are bussed to the Walmart, with a police lights and siren escort. Each child is paired with a “Cop” for the day who assists them in their shopping.
Every year Kitsap Shop with A Cop tries to create more opportunities for our local youth at risk to have positive interactions with our local law enforcement community. Every dollar raised is spent on programs. Your support helps us reach more children and families in their hour of need. Thank you!
