The clock is ticking; help save 680 acres of forest!

Our Forest Fund is raising funds to save the remaining 680 acres of trees that are at risk of clearcut in Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park (PGFHP) (i.e. lime green area on map).

In 2022 we spearheaded the successful purchase/transfer of 756 acres of timber rights to Kitsap Parks. That left 1200 acres of available timber rights in 2022, but that has been chiseled down to 680 acres at the present time!

There is time to save these trees, but we must act quickly. We urge you to help save these remaining trees which will be the foundation for a healthy forest that all of us can enjoy. What is a forest park without its trees?

Time is of the essence.

Since the land is already owned by Kitsap Parks, we just have to buy the timber rights to the trees. The immediate objective is to raise $1 million. This will catch the attention of the key partners by demonstrating the unwavering community support for conserving our forests. It gets the ball rolling to save the trees. This is why your contribution at this time is so critical for future success. The project will be realized through the collaborative efforts of individuals, businesses and foundations, along with state and local funds.

Conserving Forest Is True Legacy

In this changing climate, the planet needs forests as never before. Now more than ever, we need to save every tree we can. Your gift will make a lasting difference to our environment, to wildlife, to the very air we breathe. It is the most enduring good most of us will ever do. Your donation will be actively making the climate better long into the future. The forests we save and the trees we plant will continue to cool the planet, clean the air and water, provide habitat for wildlife and enjoyment for the community, now and for centuries to come.

Please support Our Forest Fund’s mission to conserve forests in Kitsap County and promote ecological forest practices.

Mission

The mission of Our Forest Fund is to save trees from clearcut type of harvest by acquiring timber rights, forested land and/or other forested assets, and conveying such rights to a legal entity that will hold and preserve the trees for the community in perpetuity.
