PSO Bluebills are a group of retiree volunteer handymen in Kitsap and Jefferson Counties who provide free services, with emphasis on fall prevention and independent living for the elderly, disabled and disadvantaged.   Our goal is to help keep these people living independently, in their own homes, for as long as possible.  Common projects include wheelchair ramp construction, grab bar, railing, and transfer pole installations, and repairs related to safety and ease of living.

Because of the crisis facing low-income mobile home park residents in Kitsap County -- steep increase in lot rent, additional fees, threats of eviction if tenants don’t make improvements to their homes, high risk of tenants losing their housing -- Bluebills have “boots on the ground” at these mobile home parks, and our independent living program has expanded to include keeping people from losing their homes.

In 2024 our retiree volunteer handymen provided services to 203 clients in Kitsap County, including building 48 wheelchair ramps, installing 138 grab bars, 42 railings, and performing over 200 misc. and repair jobs.
