The Port Orchard Farmers Market (POFM) is Kitsap County's longest-running farmers market, established in 1978. We provide a community gathering space for vendors selling local farm goods, artisan crafts, and prepared foods. It's an honor to be the incubator site of several local businesses that had their start vending at the farmers market. In 2025, we welcome 47,000+ customers to the waterfront to celebrate locally grown food and handmade products. 137 small business vendors participated in last season, and shoppers invested $1,030,556 in purchases with those local businesses.

Three part-time staff and the Board of Directors work collaboratively with the community to keep the organization operating and growing year after year. Our basic operating costs are covered by member/vendor fees. Market programs and special events are made possible thanks to the generosity of our community of supporters through sponsorships, donations, and volunteerism.

Current programs and special events:

  • Food Access! SNAP Market Match, supported by a grant, which doubles dollars to a certain amount increasing the amount of healthy produce that can be bought at POFM. Customers who use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)/EBT benefits can stretch their food budget to buy more fruits and vegetables!
  • The Power Of Produce (POP) Kids Club invites youth to participate in educational activities every second Saturday during market season. Upon completion of the POP activity, kids receive $4 POP carrot tokens to spend on produce with farmers at the market.
  • Music at the Market is our weekly showcase of local musicians playing live at the market.
  • 2026 Events: Paint Your Own Pottery (April 26 & October 10), Seagull Calling Contest (May 9), Bark-It at the Market (May 30), Mini Makers Market (June 27), Yoga at the Market (August 1), National Farmers Market Week (August 8), Empty Bowls Soup Off (benefitting South Kitsap Helpline - September 26), and Market Trick or Treat (October 24).

We look forward to bringing local food and artisan goods to the community for many years to come and appreciate your support in being able to expand upon our programs!

Mission

Mission: To strengthen our local food system and economy by supporting small farms, producers, and artisans; increasing access to healthy, locally-grown food for all; and fostering inclusive community spaces where people connect, learn, and thrive.

Vision: We envision a thriving community where fresh, local food is a right—not a privilege. Our market is more than a place to shop—it's a movement for food justice, where everyone belongs, small farms and businesses flourish, and neighbors come together to nourish body, heart, and home.

Purpose: The Kitsap Regional Farmers Market (Port Orchard Farmers Market) exists to be a cornerstone of the local economy by managing vibrant, inclusive markets where farmers and small businesses can sell directly to the public. We provide space where everyone can access healthy food and connect as a community.

Needs

Funds raised will go toward programs such as food access, the Power of Produce Kids Club, Music at the Market, education for small business owners, events benefitting all members of the community, and the general operating needs of our weekly farmers market.
