Salish Magazine is a free, online magazine that takes inquisitive readers outdoors. Our in-depth storytelling is about things people can see firsthand in our public forests and beaches. Published by SEA-Media, Salish Magazine uses engaging articles, poetry, artwork, photos, video, and even music to illuminate the interconnectedness woven through our ecosystems.
We have chosen to focus on the Salish Sea region because it includes a broad spectrum of highly interrelated habitats, from lowland forests to the relatively protected waters of the Salish Sea. When the magazine discusses key features in these habitats, such as glacial erratics or tide swept beaches, trilliums or Douglas-fir cones, people all over the region can see examples of these same things close to home.
We also hope that by learning more about our local nature and how it works, readers will see the value in protecting it.
Now in our eighth year, there are over two dozen back-issues available to readers.
Why Donate to Salish Magazine/SEA-Media?

Nature has just a tiny presence in the mainstream media, seldom even appearing in their online menus that mainly feature politics, sports, business, technology, fashion, etc.
Salish Magazine is making our environment more present in the media. Our publication also serves as valuable resource to parents and home educators to inspire outdoor scientific learning.
SEA-Media is the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that produces Salish Magazine.
What Do Donations Support?
As a completely ad-free publication, Salish Magazine relies on donations to offset overhead costs, such as web hosting and software fees. Production of the magazine has been done mostly by volunteers who give their time freely to produce compelling written and visual content, as well as editing, layout, and promotion.
To support the sustainable growth of Salish Magazine, we are offering honoraria to content contributors, funded by donations.
Also because of generous donations, we now have a part-time Managing Editor to manage the collection and polishing of creative content. This frees up other volunteers to explore more interactive features to help convey the beauty and complexity of our ecosystems.
Your donations help us continue these efforts. You can use the Donate button.
