Our Story
The Silverdale Community Center Foundation (SCCF) was established in 2025 with the mission to raise funds for the creation, operation and maintenance of a Community Center in Silverdale. Our Board is comprised of a diverse group of individuals who have the passion and skills to establish a gathering space for all Central Kitsap citizens.
Renovate An Existing, Empty Building
SCCF’s strategy is to repurpose existing, empty commercial space, rather than to pursue new construction. Board members believe that renovating empty commercial space supports environmental sustainability and economic revitalization.
Public/Private Partnerships
Our Board members believe that a Silverdale Community Center has the potential to support many nonprofit collaborations and public-private partnerships. We are partnering with Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS). They will purchase and renovate a two-story building in the Silverdale Urban Growth Area and within the Silverdale Town Center Plan, at 9619 Levin Rd. PCHS will put a medical clinic upstairs (2900 square feet), and the Silverdale Community Center (6500 square feet) will be located on the first floor. There will be space for small and large events, arts/crafts, classrooms, a conference room, caterer kitchen and storage lockers. We see this as a win-win partnership that will care for the whole person, body, mind and spirit. (See media gallery for current pictures of building). The building is conveniently located on a bus route, across from Senior housing and next to the Clear Creek Trailhead.
Programs and Facility Rentals
Programs at the Silverdale Community Center will be inclusive, family oriented and culturally relevant. There will be monthly events themed around seasonal celebrations. SCCF planners will address the issue of social isolation in our community, which can lead to depression, anxiety and substance abuse. Our most isolated groups such as seniors and work-from-home individuals will be invited to conduct and participate in programs. Meals on Wheels plans to provide hot meals in this congregate space for seniors, and teens will help to build programs to suit their needs. Civic groups and others will rent meeting space when the center is available. Drop-in hours are also planned so the community can just come by and meet other residents, use the arts/crafts/game room or hold a book club in the study room.
Benefits of Your Investment
Investing in a Silverdale Community Center will yield more than just a building—it will create the framework for future community resilience, connections and empowerment. The benefits include improved mental and physical health, economic stimulation, enhanced cultural diversity, and a strengthened sense of belonging. By bringing together diverse community threads into one vibrant space, Silverdale can serve as a model of modern, sustainable, and inclusive community involvement. The mission of the Silverdale Community Center Foundation is to provide a Community Center for Silverdale and Central Kitsap residents.
