The Bremerton Schools and Alumni Foundation was created in 2003 to provide Bremerton students with scholarships for technical schools, colleges and universities, and fund classroom grants to provide Bremerton kids with school experiences they may not otherwise be able to afford. Over the last two decades, the Foundation has accumulated total assets of over $700,000, and provides additional awards from a separate scholarship endowment of over $500,000. With direct gifts and endowment income, the Foundation has awarded over $500,000 in scholarships, classroom grants, and special projects for Bremerton school children.
Bremerton Schools and Alumni Foundation scholarship recipients have attended every public four-year college and university in Washington, many state community colleges (including Olympic College), and many other institutions of higher learning throughout the United States.
Examples of classroom grants the Foundation has funded in recent years include:
- classroom reading centers
- hands-on materials to help teach math and science concepts
- new technology to support special needs learning
- school gardens and outdoor spaces
- a STEM student field trip to use the air and space lab at the flight museum in Seattle
- sending the Bremerton School District's state champion Destination Imagination Team to the national championship competition in Kansas City
- providing every third-grade student with swimming lessons
- giving every kindergarten student their own book to practice reading at home
There are no Foundation employees. Our all-volunteer board works hard to keep expenses down and to focus all Foundation resources on direct giving.
Thank you for your continuing generosity!
